"Concilio et Labore" - loosely translated from Latin means "Wisdom and effort".
The ship represents the city's trading base and the Manchester Ship Canal. The three lines are for three local rivers. The blue globe with yellow Bees symbolises work and industry.
City of Manchester Coat of Arms: Worn on United shirts in Cup Finals up until 1970's. Still worn today on official Manchester United team blazers.
