United defender Nemanja Vidic has been ruled out of the World Cup after damaging knee ligaments in training with Serbia & Montenegro.
Vidic suffered the injury in a training session on Monday. It isn't thought to be too serious, with Serbia's team doctor Aleksandar Boskovic confirming Vidic will be out for "for several weeks."
"He will miss the World Cup, even if we reach the final," Boskovic added.
The 24-year-old defender, who joined the Reds from Spartak Moscow for around £7million in January, missed Serbia's opening Group C defeat to Holland because of a one-match suspension for a red card he had received in a qualifying match.
