Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand sparked a dressing room ban on MP3 players by manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Ferguson expects his players to switch all electronics off once they are preparing for a match inside the dressing room.
Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar witnessed the moment when Ferguson decided enough was enough.
The Dutch star said: "The manager pulled the earphones right out of Rio's ears the other day at United. He made out he was joking for a second, but I strongly believe he was giving a message to Rio.
"In the dressing room at United everyone has to be focussed and pay attention to what is being said."
Van der Sar added: "It's fine if players in our team want to have headphones on and listen to music.
"They can do that on a plane, on the coach or in the team hotel. But the players can't walk around with those things on in the dressing room.
"We have to operate as a team. A pep talk or a good chat from the manager is more important than a bit of music just before a match."
