He will add bite to the United midfield and Carrick expects his international colleague to enhance the competition for places. Though Carrick's own position in the side will be under threat by the acquisition of Hargreaves, he is looking forward to the Canadian-born battler's arrival. "We are at the biggest club in the world and we want the best players," said Carrick. "World-class players are going to strengthen you and Owen is a top player. "We need a big squad.
