The French club claimed that Ryan Giggs' goal in the last 16 first leg tie should not have stood. They believe that referee Eric Braamhaar made a technical error by not blowing his whistle before the free-kick had been taken and, therefore, were requesting that the match be replayed.* M/ W5 i4 i; I2 c

However, on Friday afternoon UEFA's Appeals Body backed the original decision. A statement on their website confirmed "that there was no proof of a technical error".
